Through his blog, Brady’s goals are to educate the world about people with autism and to be a role model and advocate for those in the autism community. Recently, he took one more big step!!
One of my favorite authors, Melissa Foster, is doing character research for an upcoming book. She inquired through her Facebook feed if anyone has an autistic nonverbal friend or family member who can answer some questions. Of course, I jumped at that chance and gave her a link to Brady’s blog. To my excitement, we ended up having a great conversation and spoke of the ups and downs of living with autism and the scariness of the future unknown. Much to my surprise, she asked if she could speak with Brady directly!!! And we did just that !!
While Brady and I waited to connect with Melissa, I asked how he felt about being interviewed by a real author and that what he says might help her mold the nonverbal autistic character in her book.
today I feel alive. hope has come true. good news. true. good things, good friends will be excited for me
Prior to our interview, I asked Melissa to send some questions that Brady could answer. Here are her questions and his answers:
What is your life like? I ask this in a general way because I want to know what He feels, not what he thinks I want to hear.
my life is good for the most part.friends keep me very busy.hope one day good things eventually will come from my writings.i want to give a voice to the voiceless.i want to help those who are lost.i hope that my poems help people just like me.
Are you excited about going to Peace of Heart? What have you enjoyed most about the environment and what would you change if you could? Does any of it scare you?
I think i will have more experience and independence. I can pick activities im just interested in. i enjoy working on the farm with my friends. i would ask for good typers so i can talk everyone.yes.think i will miss my family.
(While typing live about moving into Peace of Heart, he typed: Dreadfull, very alone with out my family.)
What would you like to do when you grow up? Sounds funny to say that to a young adult but I mean five years down the line?
B-in five years id like to have done real change with my writings. i want to meet these people.(Good Blog friends and book fans)
I really enjoyed reading your blogs. You're a very talented and emotional compelling writer. Do you see professional writing in your future?
yes. i dont ever want to stop writing.just want to help with my words.
If you could tell the World one thing about what it's like not to be able to speak with your own voice what would it be?
i feel like a hostage to silence.
She asked Brady to explain; watch the video for the answer
